Learning From Home
Teaching and learning continue, despite social distancing, and we want to help you better understand the technology aspects of your child's instruction.
Monitoring Student Progress...
As always, you can monitor your child's progress via Skyward Family Access. Contact your child's campus for your login information. For more information on Skyward, click HERE. To login, click the button below.
If your child uses Google Classroom to learn, you can receive daily or weekly summary emails. To get that going, provide your email address to your child's teacher, and follow the steps detailed in the video below.
If your child is unable to log into their Venus ISD Google Account, contact your child's teacher to confirm their username and password. If your child is having issues with their school-owned device or accessing various online learning systems on them please reach out to the Technology Department so they can help resolve the issue. Click the button below for details on contacting the Technology Department.
Clever, YouTube, and Video Chats...
Clever is an online portal where multiple district approved websites can be found. Your child will log in using their district email and password. Once they do that they have access to multiple sites that are one click away from use. These sites include everything from virtual classroom platforms like Canvas or Google Classroom to online textbooks to educational games and online practice sites.
YouTube is accessible to all Venus ISD students through their school email account, however if your child is on a school-owned device they will only be able to view videos that have been approved by a teacher. If your child's teacher has assigned a video for your child to watch and it is not loading, please get in touch with your child's teacher to ensure the video has been approved. Please monitor your child's YouTube usage if they are not using a district device.
Virtual learning sometimes involves the use of Zoom and Google Meet video conference systems, which use webcams and microphones to allow teachers and students to communicate. All school-owned devices have built in microphones and webcams. All your child has to do is join the online meeting with their computer audio. If your child joins a meeting with their cellphone the phone's camera becomes the webcam for that meeting.
