On April 28, 2015, at a special called board meeting, the VISD Board of Trustees voted and appointed Kristi Sutton to fill the unexpired term of VISD Board Member Place 4, Jeri Shaw. This appointment will take effect on May 18, 2015, when the votes are canvassed at the regularly scheduled board meeting.
The Venus Bulldog Athletic Boosters will be broadcasting the Lady Bulldog Softball Playoff Game through MixLR. The broadcast will begin at 5:50PM on Thursday, April 30, 2015. They read the first chapter of The World According to Humphry by Betty G. Birney. The goal of the Texas Reads One Book program is to get students excited about reading by extending the reading outside of the school building. Parents are encouraged to read and talk about one chapter per night with their student for the next few weeks, as students will be given the opportunity to answer questions throughout the school day about what they read at home. The Latino Family Literacy Project provides training in family reading for Hispanic parent involvement, vocabulary development, and English-language development for parents and their children. The program is led on the Venus Primary Campus by kindergarten teacher, Melisa Ruiz. Early voting for the Venus Independent School District Board of Trustees' election begins on April 27, 2015 and runs through May 5, 2015. The polling place is the Venus Civic Center, and it will be open from 8AM to 5PM during early voting and from 7AM to 7PM on election day. Election day is May 9, 2015.
The softball playoff game will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Boswell High School starting at 6:00 pm against Bridgeport. The gate will open at 5:00 pm and the cost will be $5.00 adults and $3.00 students. If you ordered a shirt they will be here before the game, and I will contact you. Special Olympics Spring Games took place at The University of Arlington; special awards were given out to the following: Family of the year: Wise/Luedke Family Athlete of the year: Brian Luedke Unified Partner of the year: Erik Aguayo We are proud of our Superdog athletes and supporters! Go Bulldogs!! Congratulations to the following track athletes on their stellar performance at the district track meet and on advancing to compete at the Area Track Meet in Springtown on April 22. Great job bulldogs!

Javier Salazar was put down because he was the leader for this 1600 Meter Relay. He was injured in the triple jump, preventing him from competing. John Hinton and Alex Gore placed 1st in the Structural Engineering Competition with their bridge, and Collin Woolheater and Osvaldo Pichardo placed 7th in Problem Solving.
