2nd Team - Academic All-State Football Andrew Handlin Tyler Henrich Luke Schaefer Honorable Mention - Academic All-State Football JuanGabriel Garcia Venus ISD recognizes that the most effective learning environment for students is in a face-to-face classroom setting. Because of this, many online students have fallen behind, and some are experiencing attendance issues. This is not restricted to Venus ISD, as schools across the state and nation are experiencing the same. Therefore, beginning Wednesday, January 6, 2021, Venus ISD will discontinue online learning for all students except for those who wish to remain online, and demonstrate one of the following:
How to qualify for one of these exceptions: Documented Medical Concerns: If your child has a medical condition that places them in undue risk, please acquire a doctor’s signature on this form and return the document to your campus office by 4:00 p.m. December 11, 2020. Quarantine: If your child needs to be quarantined due to a positive test, or close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you will be contacted. Demonstrated Academic Success and Good Attendance: If, by most recently completed six weeks, your child has demonstrated academic success by passing all core classes and has no more than 2 unexcused absences for this time period, you have the option to return to on-campus learning or remain online. Appeals: Appeals can be made on this form, and will be evaluated by the committee; determination will be handled individually. If an appeal is received for a student with a disability with an IEP or 504 plan, the ARD or 504 committee will convene to review student needs. Appeals must be sent to the campus principal by December 11, 2020. Other Considerations All students currently enrolled in on-campus learning will remain on-campus learners. All students new to VISD will enroll as on-campus learners unless there are documented medical concerns regardless of placements in previous districts. Congratulations to the following Bulldogs on earning All District Honors for Football!

Venus ISD is focused on the growth and achievement of each student, each day. The data we have thus far shows that on average, Connected Learning students are not performing as effectively as On-Campus students. Research is consistent that online instruction is not the most effective learning environment for the vast majority of K-12 students. After reviewing student performance and attendance data, the Venus ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve the Superintendent’s recommendation to conclude Connected Learning after Christmas break. Our intent is to prevent students from getting so far behind in learning that they are not able to achieve at the appropriate grade level by the end of the academic year. Remote asynchronous learning will be available to students who have been advised by their healthcare provider or any federal, state, or local governmental authority to self-quarantine due to concerns related to COVID-19. Venus ISD is committed to providing the best and safest learning environment possible, even in the midst of this pandemic. Therefore, to further mitigate COVID-19’s impact on learning, we are adding 12 classrooms, via portable buildings, to provide additional space for appropriate distancing. We will maintain existing measures, such as disinfecting surfaces throughout the day, sanitizing nightly, and screening students for fevers each morning. We will also implement additional temperature screening throughout the day, in order to identify developing health issues more expediently. In addition, VISD administration is currently finalizing details of providing free, on-site COVID-19 testing that would also include a respiratory panel with results in 24 hrs. Options for families that would like to consider alternative possibilities for education other than returning to campus include:

Venus ISD will follow UIL rules at all applicable events.
Athletic Directors and Football Coaches, As we continue into fall seasons, it is critical that schools are diligent in following these risk-mitigation guidelines. Schools are still required to follow Governor Abbott’s Executive Order GA-29 related to face coverings. Schools may allow spectators to attend contests up to a maximum of 50% of a venue’s capacity, provided appropriate spacing as prescribed in the guidelines is maintained. UIL has posted some sample pre-game and public address announcements online that schools may use to help remind spectators of the guidelines to be followed. Schools not following these guidelines are subject to sanctions, including suspension of contests or discontinuation of public access to games, by the local UIL District Executive Committee and/or UIL State Executive Committee. Thank you for all of your work leading up to the season and for your continued work throughout the remainder of the season. If you have any question that we can assist you with, please contact us at athletics@uiltexas.org Sincerely, Dr. Susan Elza Director of Athletics Parents and Guardians of Venus ISD students:
The break from regular classroom has been long, and we are all ready to return. Venus ISD plans to start classes on Tuesday, August 18. Registration for returning students continues through August 4. The most effective means of education is face-to-face instruction with the teacher. However, it is easy to understand why some parents are unsure about whether to send their children back to school. Therefore, parents may choose to register their children for On-Line (Connected) Learning. Either way offers parents the flexibility to choose what is best for their family situation. Students will have the ability to have their classroom setting changed at the Six Weeks grading period. Every effort is being made to safeguard the health of our students and staff members. Throughout the school year, we will continue providing teachers with opportunities to work and learn while mitigating risks to COVID-19. We want to make sure that you are well informed about the measures we will be taking to keep your children safe and your families healthy. Please see the list below for detailed information on the variety of measures that will be in place for On-Campus learning: Parents: Screening
Teachers & Staff
Any individuals who themselves either: (a) are lab-confirmed to have COVID-19; or (b) experience the symptoms of COVID-19 (listed below) must stay at home throughout the infection period, and cannot return to campus until the school system screens the individual to determine any of the below conditions for campus re-entry have been met:
Circumstances involving COVID-19 change almost daily. Therefore, state and local mandates as well as local interests are almost certain to change. Please be assured that we will change and adjust accordingly. Our goal is to partner with you to provide your child with the best learning experience, in spite of COVID-19. As our partner, please let us know if there is something we can do that will increase your comfort level with sending your child to On-Campus learning by emailing us at covid19@venusisd.net. Sincerely, James Hopper Superintendent, Venus Independent School District Venus ISD will begin classes on-campus and online on August 18, 2020

On Thursday, 7/16, at 7:00 p.m., Venus ISD Superintendent James Hopper will discuss Re-Opening Plans and gather input from parents. Venus ISD Parents/Guardians,
The unfortunate health situation in our state is changing daily. Most recently, the COVID-19 incidents have increased dramatically. We appreciate your understanding, patience, and grace as we all navigate this situation together. We have been working all summer to plan for the 20-21 school year. In a recent survey of Venus ISD parents, almost 80% of the surveys returned said that you would rather have learning happen on campus this fall. We all want our school year to begin as normally as possible; however, there will have to be some safety precautions. As with all school districts, we had been hoping to get a little more guidance from state sources regarding the health situation, specifically social distancing restrictions and the constraints that will be placed on the classroom environment, transportation, student meals, and so forth. In the absence of this direction, we are pressing forward, and will continue to work with guidance from health officials regarding the safest manner in which to return to school this year. We want to inform you of options for the coming school year: On-Campus (Face-to-face) Instruction We will make sure that our students can be back on campus with their teachers in a way that maximizes safety for students and staff. This will be done through routine disinfecting of surfaces, appropriate and feasible social distancing, hand washing, and use of personal protective equipment. Connected (At-Home) Instruction In addition, we are going to offer learning options for those who may have health concerns for their students or for others in the household. For those who are not comfortable with on-campus instruction at this time, we are offering Connected (virtual) Instruction. Your student already has (or will be issued) a Chromebook to use for this type of instruction. Please note that the Connected Learning will adhere to the same attendance and grading polices as on-campus classes. In order for us to accurately plan for the 20-21 school year, please take a moment to fill out the brief survey, via the link below, indicating your preferences. Please note that answering the survey does not lock you into your decision. It simply gives us valuable feedback so we can more effectively and efficiently plan for the beginning of the school year. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfiwTz0xGa_nZwU2Orka670qqVL_VRQ1H7y3LQIlcJU2YsTLQ/viewform?usp=sf_link We look forward to the ongoing partnership with parents in the coming weeks leading up to the school year. There will be much more information in the coming days and weeks. In the meantime, please email any questions to covid19@venusisd.net. Key upcoming dates include the following:
Fechas Importantes:
