Dear Parents:
Universities use SAT test results to make admission decisions. Sadly, students who work hard in high school often fail to gain acceptance into the colleges they aim to attend because their SAT scores are too low. Indeed, each university sets its own SAT qualifying scores, and most state colleges require a score of 1150 or higher for attendance. To increase SAT scores, parents often pay the high costs associated with SAT preparation courses. Currently, these courses cost an average of $1700 for twenty hours of instruction. Traditionally, twenty hours of SAT instruction increase SAT scores by 115 points, so many parents believe the benefits outweigh the costs. This year, Venus High School will be offering an English SAT prep course for FREE! The prep course will run from July 8th to August 1st, and it will include more than twenty hours of instructional time. The prep course will help students feel confident on test day since they will learn SAT concepts, including vocabulary, pacing, evidence-based reading methods, grammar and usage, editing, and writing. We look forward to helping your son or daughter gain success in his or her future endeavors. Please feel free to contact Wendy Silvers at wendy.silvers@venusisd.net or Leighanne Ortiz at helen.ortiz@venusisd.net if you have questions. Sincerely, Wendy Silvers, B.B.A., B.A. Eng, & M.A.T.
