    September 2025 Bond Update

    Dear Bulldog Community,

    We are pleased to provide an update on the significant progress made in the design phase of the new Venus High School project. Over the past few months, our District Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) team, in collaboration with our architects from Huckabee, has conducted two meetings and visited various local schools to gather insights that will inform our design process. Our primary objective is to create a modern, safe, and high-quality learning environment for our students.

    Key Updates:

    1. Design Development Phase:

    We have officially entered the Design Development phase. The proposed design will incorporate a classic architectural style, utilizing traditional materials such as brick and stone, along with a clearly defined front entrance. This design approach aims to create a timeless and welcoming atmosphere that fosters a sense of permanence and community, reflecting the rich history of our educational system. We believe this design will instill a sense of pride among our students and the broader community while integrating traditional aesthetics with the advanced learning environments required for today’s educational needs.

    2. Next Steps:

    We will proceed with a second round of interviews with CMAR firms. The selected Construction Manager at Risk will oversee the construction of the project, ensuring that it meets our shared vision and expectations.

Building the Future of Venus ISD Sharing the new Venus High School concept design with our community.

Venus ISD is proud to share the design of our new high school. This project is shaped by years of thoughtful planning, community input, and a shared vision for the future of our students.

VISD began the planning process in 2022, when a group of dedicated community members came together to form a long-range facilities planning committee. Their work focused on understanding growth trends, evaluating current facilities, and creating a multi-year roadmap for the future of Venus ISD. As the district continued to grow, the need for expanded facilities became increasingly urgent, leading to the reconvening of a Bond Planning Committee to study funding options and determine the best path forward.

Throughout 2024, the Bond Planning Committee met multiple times to review past plans, examine enrollment growth, discuss solutions, and ultimately prioritize projects for recommendation to the Board of Trustees. These meetings represented collaboration between parents, staff, and community members, working together to ensure that the decisions made would reflect the needs and values of our entire community.

After months of research, planning, and discussion, the committee recommended moving forward with Phase 1 of a new high school. This solution addressed overcrowding and could accommodate continued growth while remaining financially responsible. The Board of Trustees then took the next step in bringing this vision to life.

Now, we are proud to share the result of that work: the design of a new high school that represents both our tradition and our future. The design reflects a timeless architectural style with modern, flexible learning spaces. The new high school design creates an environment that supports innovation, safety, and student success for years to come.

This high school is more than just a building. It is an investment in the future of Venus ISD that will:

  • Support continued student growth
  • Reduce overcrowding and eliminate portable classrooms
  • Expand opportunities in Career & Technical Education, Fine Arts, and Athletics
  • Create modern, flexible learning environments
  • Strengthen community pride and engagement
