We are excited to announce that for the 2021-2022 school year, healthy meals will be offered every school day to all students at no cost. Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. However, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued guidance that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year.
While no application or eligibility determination process is required for your student to receive free meals this school year, the income eligibility requirement will resume in the 2022-2023 school year. Please plan to apply for free or reduced meals for the 2022-2023 school year. Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) provides food benefits to families with enrolled students (up to 21 years of age) who temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price school meals for the 2020–2021 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
To apply, go to yourtexasbenefits.com/Learn/PEBT. The application opens June 2, and the deadline to apply is Aug. 13, 2021. Haga clic aquí para obtener detalles en español. Haga clic aquí para la aplicación en español. Who is Eligible?

In order to maintain consistency in all our COVID-19 mitigation protocols, while ensuring our ability to enforce them with fidelity, it is necessary to modify a recent announcement regarding extensive travel. Quarantines will not be based on travel destination, but in keeping with original protocols, all quarantines will be based on COVID-19 positive tests and close contact with someone who has COVID-19. We encourage students to be tested for COVID-19 upon their return to school after international travel, and we will facilitate free, on-site, COVID-19 testing for students in this situation. To arrange for a COVID test for your child after international travel, please contact a campus nurse. Venus ISD is partnering with parents and community members to assemble a Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee. We are looking for community members to serve in the long-range facility planning process. Committee members will examine the recent demographic projections, current capacities and school finances in order to plan for the next level of possibilities for Venus Students. The committee we are forming is not a bond committee. This is for planning purposes only. With advanced planning roads, water and other amenities can be considered so that their delay is minimized when time becomes a limited commodity.
Beginning Thursday, February 4, 2021 we will host a series of community partnership meetings for the purpose of creating a long-range facility plan to be presented to the Board of Trustees. If you are interested and able to commit to 5 meetings in February and March or if you simply have questions please email futureplans@venusisd.net. Meetings will be held in a COVID safe environment and masking, hand sanitizing and appropriate distancing will be required. Child care will not be provided and we request that your children not accompany you to these meetings. Congratulations to our amazing young ladies who received Academic All-State Honors from the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Texas Army National Guard for Volleyball. They maintained an overall average of 92 or above throughout the season. Please congratulate them when you see them!
